Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Newcastle United star Cheick Tiote.
Red Devils manager David Moyes is keen to bolster his midfield options after watching his side suffer eight defeats in the Premier League this season.
According to the Daily Star, Moyes tried to sign Tiote while he was in charge of Everton and also enquired about the Ivory Coast international during last month's transfer window.
The newspaper claims that the Scot sees Tiote as an ideal replacement for Michael Carrick and that he is likely to make another move for him at the end of the season.
Tiote, who has been capped 41 times at senior international level, has three and a half years remaining on his current contract at St James' Park.
