Manchester United will reportedly announce the arrival of Andre Onana later this week, with the Red Devils now reaching an agreement with Inter Milan over a deal for the goalkeeper.
The 27-year-old's future has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks, with Man United identifying him as the ideal replacement for David de Gea, who has now left the club on a free transfer.
The 20-time English champions had initially found it difficult to come to an agreement with Inter over a fee, but it is understood that the two clubs have now settled on a final price.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Man United agreed a fee with Inter on Sunday evening, with the club now preparing the final paperwork before the goalkeeper heads to Manchester for a medical.
Romano claims that the former Cameroon international will sign a five-year deal with the option of an additional 12 months, and he is expected to travel on their pre-season tour of the United States.
An announcement from Man United will allegedly arrive before the end of the week, with his Red Devils debut potentially coming against Arsenal on July 22.
According to the Daily Mail, the fee for Onana will be around £43m including add-ons, which is less than Inter had originally quoted the English giants for his services.
The Cameroonian played under Man United head coach Erik ten Hag at Ajax, and his ball-playing qualities allegedly saw him identified as the team's leading target between the sticks.
Onana was in impressive form for Inter during the 2022-23 campaign, representing the club on 41 occasions in all competitions, keeping 19 clean sheets in the process.
The goalkeeper played a key role in the Milan giants reaching the final of last season's Champions League, keeping eight clean sheets in 13 appearances in the competition.
Man United currently only have one senior goalkeeper available for action, with Tom Heaton starting the team's opening friendly of the summer against Leeds United last week.
Dean Henderson is back at the club following a loan spell at Nottingham Forest, but he is widely expected to join the Reds on a permanent basis and is also still recovering from a thigh injury, which ruled him out of the clash with Leeds in Oslo.
Man United are thought to be looking to sign two goalkeepers this summer, with Zion Suzuki potentially also arriving from Urawa Red Diamonds as back up to Onana.
Heaton could then stay at Old Trafford as a number two or a number three, although the experienced stopper has recently been linked with the likes of Luton Town and Everton. body check tags ::
