Manchester United manager David Moyes has confirmed that he toyed with the idea of signing Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi last summer.
The 30-year-old has previously been linked with a switch to Old Trafford, with the World Cup-winner recently confirming the speculation by commenting that he would have "committed suicide" had he joined the Red Devils.
The former Everton coach admits that the Italy international was on his radar during the last summer, but insists that he never acted on his desire in the form of submitting an official bid.
The Scot told The Mirror: "We certainly did think about bringing him in during the summer time, but I don't think it went as far as a bid."
