Newcastle United have reportedly made a decision on the future of winger Anthony Gordon amid interest from Liverpool.
The 23-year-old was released by the Reds as a youngster before joining Everton's academy at the age of 11, and he went on to make 78 senior appearances across six years with the Toffees before joining Newcastle.
Since completing his £45m transfer to St James' Park in January 2023, Gordon has established himself as a star player under Eddie Howe and was recently named Newcastle's Player of the Year for 2023-24 - his first full season at the club.
Gordon has contributed with 11 goals and 11 assists in 47 appearances for the Magpies across all competitions this term, and his club form was rewarded with his first senior international cap for England in March.
The winger has not only caught the attention of Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate, as a recent report claimed that Liverpool are exploring the possibility of luring the Liverpudlian back to Merseyside.
Liverpool dealt blow in Gordon pursuit?
It is understood that Liverpool have identified Gordon as a potential replacement for star attacker Mohamed Salah, who could generate as much as £100m if he were to secure a move to Saudi Arabia.
However, according to Chronicle Live, Newcastle have no interest in selling Gordon this summer, while the player himself, who has just over two years remaining on his contract, seems settled at St James' Park.
Speaking to NUFC TV last weekend, Gordon said: "I've never come to a stadium where I get the feeling of pure joy. Every time I pull up to the stadium or even if I'm just driving past, it brings me joy.
"I absolutely love it here - I've said it plenty of times. I've been in good form here and it's because I'm happy here."
Gordon not the only Newcastle man in demand
Gordon is one of a number of first-team stars that has been linked with an exit from Newcastle along with the likes of Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes.
Isak is Newcastle's top scorer this season with 20 goals in 28 Premier League appearances and has subsequently been nominated for both the Premier League Player and Young Player of the Season awards.
The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona in recent weeks, with the former allegedly identifying the Sweden international as their top striker target for this summer.
Guimaraes, meanwhile, has been another standout performer for the Magpies this season, chipping in with six goals and eight assists in 48 appearances across all competitions while operating as a deep-lying playmaker.
The Brazilian is believed to be on the radar of several top European clubs including Arsenal, Barcelona, Manchester City, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, and he will have a limited-time release clause worth £100m that expires at the end of June.
Howe insisted last week that Newcastle have no plans to sell either Isak or Guimaraes this summer despite the interest in their services. body check tags ::
