Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appeared to tell Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake that Manchester United need a player like him following Saturday's victory over Bournemouth.
Ake and the rest of Bournemouth's defenders had another off day as they shipped five goals in the defeat at Old Trafford, the Dutchman playing the full 90 minutes.
However, Solskjaer was seen chatting to the 25-year-old at full time and the conversation was partially captured by the BT Sport cameras.
As reported by The Mirror, United's manager seemingly told Ake: "We need a left-footed centre-back, so keep on going".
United are expected to face competition from rivals Manchester City for the Chelsea product's signature, though, while the Blues are also believed to have a buyback option.
