Paris Saint-Germain could reportedly battle Manchester United for the signature of Napoli forward Victor Osimhen during next summer's transfer window.

The Nigeria international has been in impressive form for his Italian club during the 2022-23 campaign, scoring 10 goals and registering three assists in 14 appearances in all competitions.

Osimhen has a contract in Naples until June 2025, but there is currently widespread speculation surrounding his future, with Man United thought to have identified him as their leading target for next summer.

However, according to Italian journalist Paolo Bargiggia, PSG are also determined to sign the forward ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

Lionel Messi is widely expected to sign a new deal with the French champions, but there remains uncertainty surrounding Kylian Mbappe's long-term future.

Osimhen has managed nine goals and three assists in 11 Serie A appearances this season, while he scored once in three outings in the group stage of the Champions League.

The 24-year-old made the move to Napoli from Lille in the summer of 2020, and he has represented the Italian side on 76 occasions in all competitions, scoring 38 goals and contributing 12 assists.

The Nigerian recently played down suggestions that he was looking to move clubs in the near future.

"[Napoli are] one of the best clubs in Europe and I want to win here," Osimhen told Il Mattino. "The future is this moment, try to win something relevant in Italy.

"It's hard to think about something better than Napoli, one of the best clubs in Italy, right now. I am only focused on this season because we haven't done anything yet. We must win something and then we'll see what happens."

Meanwhile, earlier this year, Osimhen's agent Roberto Calenda denied that the forward wanted to leave Napoli over the summer amid the constant speculation.

"Whoever talked about a departure (over the summer) made a mistake. It was Victor's will to stay at Napoli and play the Champions League that he won entry to last year together with his teammates," Calenda told Radio Kiss Kiss.

"Victor wanted exactly that, to have a great year with Napoli, between the league and the Champions League.

"He has a long contract with the Azzurri. The market is dynamic, but our will is to continue at Napoli and continue to do well."

Osimhen scored 18 goals and registered six assists in 38 appearances for Lille before making the move to Italian football. body check tags ::
