Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick has said that Bruno Fernandes's new contract at Old Trafford is "very good news for the club".
The Red Devils announced on Friday morning that the Portugal international had penned a new deal with the club until June 2026, with the option to extend the agreement by a further 12 months.
Rangnick branded the 27-year-old "a very important player" for the 20-time English champions when asked to comment on the recent announcement.
"I think that's very good news for the club, for the fans, the supporters also for Bruno to know he will be here for the next five years, I suppose," Rangnick told reporters.
"There is no doubt he is a very important player for this club and this team. That's great news, I already congratulated him yesterday after his return from the World Cup Qualifiers. He played very well, scored the most important goals to qualify."
Fernandes scored both goals in Portugal's World Cup playoff final against North Macedonia on Tuesday evening to send his national side to the finals of this year's competition.
At club level, the attacker has contributed nine goals and 14 assists in 37 appearances in all competitions during the 2021-22 campaign. body check tags ::
