Manchester United are reportedly in talks with the representatives of Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot regarding new contracts.
The duo have both established themselves as integral members of the Red Devils squad during the early days of Erik ten Hag after their futures were previously called into question.
With Anthony Martial injured and Cristiano Ronaldo out of favour, Rashford has taken advantage to start the new season as Man United's first-choice striker.
Meanwhile, Dalot has fended off competition from Aaron Wan-Bissaka and the injured Brandon Williams to hold down the right-back spot at Old Trafford in the early weeks of the 2022-23 campaign.
Both Rashford and Dalot could become free agents at the end of the season, but Man United possess the option to extend their respective stays until the summer of 2024.
Dalot and Rashford are understood to be two of five players in line for contract extensions, and according to journalist Pedro Almeida, discussions are now underway with the players' agents.
Rashford was initially expected to leave in the summer after enduring a troublesome 2021-22 season, but he has started life under Ten Hag as he means to go on.
The 24-year-old has three goals and two assists to boast from six Premier League outings so far, including a brace in his side's 3-1 win over league leaders Arsenal during their most recent top-flight game.
However, Rashford has since picked up a muscular problem and was not selected for England duty by Gareth Southgate for September's Nations League fixtures with Italy and Germany, but there is hope that he may be available for next month's Manchester derby.
The striker will be pushing to return to the Three Lions squad for the 2022 World Cup, and his total for Man United now stands at 96 goals and 60 assists from 309 appearances in all tournaments.
Meanwhile, Dalot has worked his way back up the pecking order at Old Trafford following a loan spell at AC Milan in 2020-21, and he has started all eight of his side's games in the Premier League and Europa League so far this term.
The 23-year-old has two assists from those eight matches, and he revealed earlier this summer that he turned down the chance to make his switch to Milan permanent in favour of proving himself at Man United.
"Milan are a great club and I loved the season with the Rossoneri. But it (transfer) wasn't just up to me. In the end I decided to stay at United and it was the right decision," Dalot told the press.
"If I'm a better defender I owe it to Milan. Italian football is different from the Premier League and I had to adapt in just one year and playing in Serie A has helped me a lot.
"Over the past two years here in Manchester, the minutes have increased and, consequently, so has self-esteem."
Dalot has registered one goal and five assists from 73 games for Man United in all tournaments since joining from Porto in 2018, and the Red Devils sit fifth in the Premier League table before facing local rivals Manchester City on October 2 after the international break. body check tags ::
