Real Madrid are reportedly interested in Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite.

The 21-year-old has become a regular fixture in the Everton side after forcing his way into Sean Dyche's lineup at the start of the season.

After being an unused substitute for Everton's first two league games, Branthwaite has gone on to start 17 of the club's next 18 top-flight matches, only missing December's clash with Burnley due to suspension.

Branthwaite has played his part in a backline that has kept six clean sheets in the Premier League this season – a tally that can only be bettered by Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United.

Having established himself in the Everton side, Branthwaite has put himself in the frame for a call-up to Gareth Southgate's England squad.

The defender's impressive performances have also caught the attention of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, who are believed to be showing an interest.

According to the Daily Mail, La Liga leaders Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on the youngster's progress at Goodison Park.

The report claims that Real Madrid are scouring the market for defensive additions for next summer, and their search has led to Branthwaite being identified as a potential target.

Los Blancos are looking to strengthen their backline ahead of the 2024-25 campaign after seeing their central defensive options stretched by long-term injuries to Eder Militao and David Alaba.

With Antonio Rudiger and Nacho their only two other senior centre-backs, Real Madrid are seemingly keen to bring in greater strength-in-depth.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, who recently signed a new deal until 2026, is aware of Branthwaite's potential after handing the young defender his Everton debut in July 2020.

Branthwaite also has previous experience of playing abroad after spending last season on loan with PSV Eindhoven, where he made 37 appearances and won the KNVB Beker.

The La Liga club are expected to monitor his progress in the second half of the season as they try to establish if he has the characteristics required to play for the Spanish giants.

Although Real Madrid may be keeping a close eye on Branthwaite's development, Everton are under no immediate pressure to sell due to the player's lengthy contract.

The centre-back, who helped England win the Under-21 Euros last summer, is under contract until June 2027 after signing a new deal in October. body check tags ::
