Real Madrid are reportedly hopeful that Martin Odegaard can help them beat Manchester United to the signature of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland.
The 20-year-old has been in excellent form for BVB since arriving in January, finding the back of the net on 27 occasions in 29 appearances in all competitions, including 11 goals in 11 outings this season.
United missed out on signing the Norway international during the winter transfer window but are still believed to be interested in signing the forward at some point in the future.
Madrid also continue to be linked with Haaland, and a recent report claimed that Zinedine Zidane's side are confident of signing him from Dortmund in the summer of 2022.
According to AS, Los Blancos are of the opinion that Odegaard's close friendship with his international teammate will give them an advantage over United when it comes to the young forward.
Haaland's existing deal at Signal Iduna Park is due to run until June 2024.
