Inter Milan have reportedly asked Manchester United if they can take Romelu Lukaku on a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy.
The Belgian striker is keen to link up with Antonio Conte at Inter and Nerazzurri chiefs are believed to be in London discussing a deal.
Inter are struggling to put together a financial package to sign Lukaku outright, but Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano suggests that an alternative arrangement could be thrashed out.
United will supposedly be offered £63m over the duration of the 26-year-old's loan spell and Inter will then purchase Lukaku permanently in 2021.
However, Inter only intend to pay £9m this summer and United are said to be after a bigger upfront payment.
