Manchester United have been handed a surprise boost in their chase for Atletico Madrid defender Miranda, according to reports.
The 30-year-old centre-back was said to be a target for manager Louis van Gaal last summer, after a fine season which resulted in La Liga success.
United have been linked with making a return for the Brazilian this year, and AS reports that Atletico are open to selling him at the end of the season.
Miranda's contract runs out in 2016, and the club may decide to cash in on him while he still has market value.
Miranda has played 23 times so far this season.
