The proposed transfer that will see Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan swap clubs will reportedly be finalised within the next 48 hours once the Manchester United midfielder undergoes a medical.
Sanchez is already said to have agreed personal terms with the Red Devils and is now awaiting Arsenal and Mkhitaryan to complete their half of the bargain.
Both Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger admitted on Saturday afternoon that they expect the swap deal to go through with little trouble and, according to Sky Sports News, it is now a step closer to completion due to a further breakthrough this evening.
Armenia international Mkhitaryan has agreed to travel to London, with the two clubs hopeful of making a joint announcement by Monday night.
The report suggests that it will be a straight swap, as opposed to a cash-plus-player agreement that had initially been touted.
Neither player was involved for their respective sides on Saturday, as United battled to a 1-0 win at Burnley and Arsenal stuffed Crystal Palace 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium.
