Monaco are reportedly weighing up a move for Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney.
Rooney agreed a new five-and-a-half year contract at Old Trafford back in February and was handed the captaincy by Louis van Gaal shortly before the current campaign got underway.
However, the wealthy Ligue 1 side feel that they can still persuade Rooney to move away from United, according to The Telegraph.
Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev is quoted as saying: "One year ago, we were discussing one of the top players of the Premier League, a top English player.
"But it was on the table. This opportunity finally did not happen, but I think one day that it will come, that it will happen."
Monaco owner Dmitry Rybolovlev has tightened the purse strings at the club after a divorce settlement and a tax dispute with mainland France ended up costing the Russian around £2.75bn.
