Wayne Rooney will reportedly not try to force his way out of Manchester United by handing in a transfer request before next week's deadline.
The 27-year-old has been the subject of two rejected bids from Chelsea this summer, with the player himself said to be keen on a switch to Stamford Bridge.
However, United manager David Moyes has insisted throughout the summer that the England international was not for sale at any price and even included him in his starting lineup for yesterday's match against the Blues, where he received a positive reception from the majority of the home supporters.
After the 0-0 draw, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho encouraged Rooney to hand in a transfer request in order to force through a move to London.
The striker, though, has no intention of doing that because of respect for United as a club and its fans, according to numerous reports.
If the speculation is proved to be correct, Mourinho is expected to turn his attention to Samuel Eto'o, who has been made available for transfer by Anzhi Makhachkala.
