Jack Rodwell's transfer from Everton to Manchester City has reportedly scuppered Manchester United's pursuit of Leighton Baines.
United have long been linked with England full-back Baines, who was believed to have been valued at around £12m by Everton.
However, the sale of Rodwell to United's rivals City has eased the current financial situation at Goodison Park, meaning that the club will now not need to cash in on Baines, according to the Manchester Evening News.
As a result, the Toffees are said to have increased their asking price for Baines, who joined the club from Wigan Athletic in 2007.
