Sporting director Monchi has claimed that Roma rejected the chance to sign Daley Blind from Manchester United during the January transfer window.
The versatile Dutchman was strongly linked with the Old Trafford exit last month after making just 15 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions this season.
Monchi has confirmed that Roma were one of the sides in talks with United regarding a permanent transfer, but the Italian club could not justify bringing in the 27-year-old because of his valuation.
"Blind was offered to us and he was evaluated from both a sporting and financial point of view," he told reporters. "However, we decided not go get him. Let's not forget the financial stand point - otherwise, we'd sign every player in the world."
Roma instead turned to left-back Jonathan Silva to plug the gap left by Emerson Palmieri, who left for Chelsea in the closing stages of the winter window.
