Manchester United have reportedly lost out on signing defender Ruben Dias after the Portugal international decided to remain at Benfica for the 2019-20 season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made signing a central defender a top priority this summer, with the club locked in negotiations with Leicester City for Harry Maguire.
While the Englishman is firmly first choice for Solskjaer, United have also kept a close eye on Dias, who made 55 appearances in all competitions for Benfica last season.
However, according to A Bola, the 22-year-old is on the verge of signing a new contract at Benfica which will see his release clause rise to £80m.
Arsenal are another Premier League club said to be interested in Dias as Unai Emery continues his pursuit of defenders after signing William Saliba.
United remain focused on Maguire and have upgraded their offer to £80m, but Leicester are holding out for a fee closer to £90m.
