Marcel Sabitzer has said that 'his thoughts are on Manchester United', with the midfielder hinting that he wants to join the Red Devils on a permanent basis during this summer's transfer window.

The 28-year-old made the move to Old Trafford on loan in January, with Bayern Munich allowing him to join the 20-time English champions for the second half of the 2022-23 campaign.

As it stands, Sabitzer will head back to Allianz Arena this summer, but there have been claims that Man United are keen to sign him on a permanent basis, having been impressed with his form.

The Austria international has been a regular since arriving in Manchester, featuring on 12 occasions in all competitions, contributing one goal and one assist in the process.

Sabitzer said that "there's nothing better" than the Premier League as he hinted at a possible permanent switch to Erik ten Hag's side during the upcoming market.

"Of course my thoughts are on Man United, especially with the trust I get from Erik ten Hag - it's very positive. I found my place here. Now I know the Premier League and can say there's nothing better", he told Bild.

"United made it clear that it was a project until the summer, then we'll see. Until then, I want to give everything here. It's a loan deal without an option. In the summer, the situation will be evaluated.

"There's competition at every top club. At United, it's even more extreme than in Munich. Here there's [Scott] McTominay, [Christian] Eriksen, Casemiro, Fred and me. If I was afraid of competition, I wouldn't have joined neither Bayern nor United."

There have recently been claims that new Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel could block a summer exit for Sabitzer, with the former Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea manager keen to work with the midfielder next term.

However, it is believed that Bayern will not stand in Sabitzer's way if he wants to leave this summer.

The midfielder has said that he is yet to speak with Tuchel following his arrival at Allianz Arena, but the Austrian was full of praise for the German.

"I haven't had contact with him yet, but I have a high opinion of him as a coach. He's extremely meticulous and thinks all day about his game plan and training content. In addition he plays attractive football. He's a top coach," added Sabitzer.

The midfielder has started each of Man United's last three Premier League matches, in addition to playing the full 90 minutes of the 3-1 win over Fulham in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Sabitzer will now be bidding to keep hold of his starting role for Thursday's Europa League quarter-final first leg with La Liga side Sevilla at Old Trafford. body check tags ::
