Sevilla, Porto 'among clubs keen to sign Alex Telles'

Porto and Sevilla are reportedly among the interested parties in Manchester United defender Alex Telles.

The 29-year-old was a regular for the Red Devils during the 2021-22 campaign, making 26 appearances in all competitions, including 21 outings in the Premier League.

Telles benefitted from Luke Shaw's fitness problems last season to become a regular, but his future at Old Trafford has been thrown into doubt following the arrival of Tyrell Malacia at Old Trafford.

Malacia will seemingly battle Shaw for the left-back spot during the 2022-23 season, with Telles being used as a centre-back and central midfielder during the club's pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia.

Telles did feature against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday afternoon, but Shaw was absent through illness, while Malacia had played against Atletico Madrid on the Saturday.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Telles could leave Man United before the end of the transfer window, with two or three clubs in the running for his signature.

Romano claims that Porto are keen to explore the possibility of re-signing the Brazilian, while Sevilla are also in the mix for the full-back.

Man United would allegedly have to cover part of the defender's salary, though, with any move likely to be initially a loan with the possibility of a permanent deal.

Telles won two league titles and the Taca de Portugal with Porto before arriving at Man United in October 2020, and he has made 50 appearances for the club in all competitions.

The South American scored 26 goals and registered 57 assists in 194 appearances for Porto but has struggled to contribute in an attacking sense for the Red Devils, only managing one goal and eight assists since his switch.

New Man United boss Erik ten Hag has also allegedly placed Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Brandon Williams, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe and Eric Bailly on the transfer list ahead of the new campaign.

Lisandro Martinez and Malacia have joined to boost the team's defensive options for the 2022-23 season, while Christian Eriksen has also arrived on a free transfer from Brentford.

The 20-time English champions are believed to be looking to make two more signings before the end of the transfer window, with Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong still a leading target.

Ajax's Antony and Red Bull Salzburg's Benjamin Sesko are also being linked with moves to Old Trafford, with Man United needing attacking reinforcements for the new season even if Cristiano Ronaldo stays at the club. body check tags ::
