Chris Smalling has reportedly indicated that he wants clarification over his role at Manchester United.
The England international has spent the last seven seasons at Old Trafford and during the last campaign, he featured on 36 occasions in all competitions.
However, he was largely used on a rotational basis by manager Jose Mourinho and the signing of Victor Lindelof from Benfica appears to have pushed the 27-year-old further down the pecking order.
According to the Daily Mail, Smalling has no plans to seek a move away from the Premier League giants, but he is keen for talks over how much game-time he will receive ahead of England's probable appearance at next year's World Cup in Russia.
Should both Lindelof and Eric Bailly be fit for the start of the season, Smalling will likely start on the bench, but with United facing another hectic fixture schedule, he should still be used on a regular basis.
The former Fulham centre-back had previously been linked with a transfer to either Everton or West Ham United.
