Manchester United transfer news: Red Devils 'keen' on Germany international

Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder Joshua Kimmich allegedly remains a transfer target for Manchester United.

Manchester United allegedly still have a firm interest in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich during this summer's transfer window.

The speculation surrounding the 29-year-old's future has quietened in recent weeks, as he is currently representing Germany at the European Championship.

Kimmich is close to entering the final 12 months of his contract at Allianz Arena, though, and it is thought that he will be on the move before the end of the summer market.

Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona have all been credited with an interest in Kimmich, who is believed to be looking for a fresh challenge at this stage of his career.

However, according to CaughtOffside, he is also still on Man United's radar, with the Red Devils looking to sign at least one central midfielder during the current transfer window.

Man United 'remain keen on Kimmich deal'

Kimmich was again a vital player for Bayern during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring twice and registering 10 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, the German has been a constant for his country at Euro 2024, playing every minute of their group-stage campaign, which saw them face Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland.

Bayern are thought to be willing to sell Kimmich this summer rather than risk losing him on a free transfer at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

The midfielder arrived at Allianz Arena from RB Leipzig in 2015, and during his nine-year stay in Munich, he has made 390 appearances in all competitions.

Man United face serious competition for Kimmich, but it is understood that the Red Devils are planning to accelerate their interest once this summer's European Championship has concluded.

Which midfielders could leave Man United this summer?

Casemiro is widely expected to move on this summer, with clubs from Saudi Arabia said to be keen on the Brazilian, who struggled to show his best form during the 2023-24 campaign.

Christian Eriksen is also set to depart in search of regular starts at this stage of his career, while Donny van de Beek is not in the club's plans this summer and is set to be moved on.

There has been speculation linking Kobbie Mainoo with a departure, but Man United will refuse to sell the England international, while an exit for Bruno Fernandes is also seen as highly unlikely despite the ongoing talk surrounding his future.

Scott McTominay is thought to have come close to leaving Old Trafford last summer, but he proved himself during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring 10 times in all competitions, and the Scotland international is also set to remain with the club beyond the transfer deadline.

Man United need to make a decision on Sofyan Amrabat, meanwhile, as the Morocco international's loan deal from Fiorentina will officially expire at the end of the month. body check tags ::
