Manchester United loanee Sofyan Amrabat has opened up on his future at the club, stating that "staying" with the Premier League giants is an "option."

The Moroccan international joined the Red Devils on loan from Fiorentina last summer, in a deal that includes an option for United to sign him permanently for £21m if they choose.

Amrabat has not had the best of seasons, and while he has made 21 Premier League appearances for United this term, only 10 of those were starts, many of which saw him playing out of his preferred central midfield position.

Nevertheless, the 27-year-old played a crucial role in the Red Devils FA Cup final victory over Manchester City at Wembley Stadium this weekend, and after the match, the midfielder expressed his desire to remain at Old Trafford next term.

Amrabat expresses desire to remain at Man United next season

Speaking to Ziggo Sport, Amrabat said: "Do I already know what I'm going to do next year? No. We are going to talk.

"Staying is certainly an option. Look, I think it has been a very difficult season. For Manchester United it needs to be much better, and also for me personally."

Amrabat went on to admit that the period at the start of his loan, when he filled in at left back for the Red Devils, was difficult before reiterating that transfer talks would take place soon.

Still, despite his hopes, Amrabat is already being linked with moves elsewhere, with reports suggesting United are unlikely to make his deal permanent next season.

There is considerable uncertainty at the club regarding who will be part of the team next season, with the futures of several players and manager Erik ten Hag up in the air.

Wholesale changes expected at Old Trafford in the summer

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co now in charge, a major overhaul is expected in the summer, with key decisions needing to be made, including the plans for loanees Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood and Donny van de Beek.

Additionally, Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial are expected to leave Old Trafford imminently, while veterans Tom Heaton and Jonny Evans will become free agents when their contracts expire next month.

United ended the Premier League season in eighth place but secured entry to the Europa League next season thanks to their FA Cup triumph.

Winning the FA Cup means that Chelsea will have to settle for a spot in the Conference League, while Newcastle United will miss out on continental competition next term.
