Manchester United have reportedly been told by Roma that midfielder Kevin Strootman will cost around £60m.
According to The Mirror, the 24-year-old has opted to change his agent and is now represented by the same agent who advises Robin van Persie, Kes Vos, and has also set his heart on a move to Old Trafford.
However, it is thought that the Red Devils are being quoted such a fee because of their massive summer spending spree, which is believed to have set the club back around £150m in new recruits.
Roma's American owner James Pallotta is said to have told Strootman's agent that the former Premier League champions will no longer be able to land the Dutchman for the £25m that they were willing the pay previously and will need to match the fee paid out for Angel di Maria.
United face Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
