Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has insisted that he will keep hold of his transfer veto at the club under the new structure.

As it stands, Ten Hag has a veto on all transfers, with the Dutchman playing a huge role in the signings that the club have made since his arrival in 2022.

The football department at Old Trafford is now being restructured under new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe, with director of sport at INEOS Sir Dave Brailsford set to be heavily involved.

Dan Ashworth is also set to arrive as the new sporting director, and it had been thought that Ten Hag would no longer be involved in the signings at the club.

However, the Dutchman, speaking during his press conference on Friday afternoon, has insisted that he will be able to reject signings, with all of the senior figures 'working together' in the transfer market.

"When I came in, I also got the direction. It's normal that the club dictates the style. So you have to get agreement about this," Ten Hag told reporters.

"And that is how I work now. So we want to play. And that was given before by the leaders of this club. They want to play proactive, dynamic attacking football. And that is, I think, during my time here, we always try to do.

"Yes, I'm sure it's control. And I have had the talks with them about it and they will not bring in players who the manager doesn't want because it will not work.

"And we will work there, together with suggestions and bringing players in and discussing. And then it's about picking the right players, it's about cooperation and it's about togetherness. That is the way they want to work."

Ten Hag has also backed Antony to make the most of the opportunities that are likely to arrive over the next couple of weeks due to a muscular problem for Rasmus Hojlund, which will open up a spot in the attack.

"Yes, absolutely. He has to prove a point, that he will do. And he has big potential. He hasn't shown it lately, but I know what his talent is, and it's about proving his talent, and it's about him," said Ten Hag.

"And, yeah, he will probably get his opportunities, right. But, yeah, I think that was always the idea. You have competition, and now he has to show himself on the training pitch, but also others, because we have opportunities there.

"With [Amad] Diallo returning from an injury, he's doing well in the training. Omari Forson is doing well. So we have options to fill in those positions. And so it's not set that Marcus Rashford has to play as a centre forward."

Man United have been victorious in each of their last five matches in all competitions and will be seeking a sixth straight success when they welcome Fulham on Saturday afternoon.
