Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Marco Reus on a free transfer this summer.
The 33-year-old has entered the final six months of his contract at Borussia Dortmund, meaning that, as it stands, he will be a free agent at the end of June.
According to German journalist Christian Falk, Man United are closely monitoring the situation, with their head coach Erik ten Hag recently holding a meeting with Reus's agent Dirk Hebel.
The journalist claims that Ten Hag "seemed to be interested" during the discussions, although a number of other Premier League clubs could also be candidates for the German's signature this summer.
"Manchester United is an option for Marco Reus. I heard there was a meeting between his agent, Dirk Hebel, and Erik ten Hag; they talked about Reus and Erik seemed to be interested," Falk wrote in his column for CaughtOffside.
"They have to see what happens in the summer but he's an option as a potential free agent. Erik is familiar with Marco's quality, so this will be serious. No decision yet, of course.
"I heard also that Hebel had talks with Manchester City – these weren't particularly concrete, as City feel the player is too old.
"Secondly, Hebel then travelled to London, so I wouldn't be surprised to hear of any links in future between Reus and clubs based in the English capital."
Reus has been with Dortmund since 2012, having arrived from Borussia Monchengladbach, and he has represented the club on 368 occasions, scoring 156 goals and contributing 117 assists.
This season, the forward has contributed three goals and four assists in 12 appearances, although he has struggled with injuries, with an ankle issue ruling him out of the 2022 World Cup.
Reus has only played once in the Bundesliga since the middle of October, but he was in strong form in the early stages of the season, scoring twice and providing two assists in his first seven appearances.
The German would provide another option to Bruno Fernandes in an central attacking position, while he is also capable of operating off the left.
Man United are expected to enter the market for a big-money centre-forward this summer, as they look to sign a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Wout Weghorst has arrived this month on loan from Burnley, but it is unlikely that the Netherlands international will join the club on a permanent basis at the end of the season.
The 30-year-old made his debut against Crystal Palace on Wednesday and could again start at Arsenal on Sunday if Anthony Martial is unable to recover from a leg injury in time for the contest. body check tags ::
