Liverpool are reportedly among the clubs who have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich.
The Germany international has spent the majority of his career at the Allianz Arena after joining Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2015.
Kimmich has made nearly 400 appearances for the Bavarians, helping the club win multiple trophies, including eight Bundesliga titles and the 2019-20 Champions League.
Nine years after his arrival, Kimmich remains a prominent figure in the Bayern squad, having started all six competitive matches this season.
Despite being a regular feature, Kimmich has been linked with a move away due to the fact that his contract is set to expire at the end of the campaign.
Liverpool handed Kimmich boost
Bayern CEO Herbert Hainer has stated he wants to keep Kimmich, while the player is also open to extending his stay.
However, the German is attracting interest from several major European clubs, including Premier League giants Liverpool.
Paris Saint-Germain have also been mooted as one of Kimmich's potential suitors, but according to CaughtOffside, the French giants have now cooled their interest in the Bayern man.
The Ligue 1 champions are said to be content with their current midfield options after they added Portugal international Joao Neves to their squad in the recent summer transfer window.
PSG's stance offers a boost to Liverpool in their bid to sign Kimmich, but the Reds could still face competition from the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Liverpool eyeing new midfielder for 2025
Liverpool struck a couple of deals in the recent summer transfer window, recruiting Federico Chiesa and reaching an agreement to sign Valencia's Giorgi Mamardashvili next summer.
However, the Reds failed in their efforts to sign a midfielder after their top target Martin Zubimendi rejected the chance to move to Anfield.
The Euro 2024 winner appeared to be on the verge of joining Liverpool until he decided to stay with his boyhood club Real Sociedad.
Although they could reignite their interest in Zubimendi, the Reds could be tempted to step up their efforts to sign Kimmich in 2025, especially as he could be available on a free transfer next summer. body check tags ::
