Newcastle United are reportedly still determined to sign Leicester City attacker James Maddison during this summer's transfer window.
The Magpies have allegedly failed with an opening bid for the Englishman, with Eddie Howe's side believed to have offered in the region of £40m for his services.
However, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, Newcastle remain determined to sign the playmaker and will consider returning with a higher bid in the coming days.
The 25-year-old, who only has two years left to run on his contract at King Power Stadium, has scored 45 goals and registered 32 assists in 170 appearances for Leicester since his arrival.
Last term, Maddison contributed 18 goals and 12 assists in 53 appearances for the Foxes.
Meanwhile, Everton are allegedly making progress in their attempts to re-sign Idrissa Gueye this summer.
Paris Saint-Germain are said to be keen to move the midfielder on in the current market, and Everton are believed to be determined to bring him back to Goodison Park for the 2022-23 campaign.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, discussions between the two clubs are 'advancing', and there is a chance that he could move to the Toffees on loan or on a permanent basis.
The Senegal international previously represented the Merseyside giants between 2016 and 2019, making 108 appearances, before making the move to the French capital.
The 32-year-old has featured on 111 occasions for PSG, including 33 outings in all competitions last term.
Elsewhere, Roma are allegedly now at the head of the queue to sign Italian striker Andrea Belotti.
The 28-year-old is available on a free transfer this summer following his release from Torino, and he has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks.
However, according to Calciomercato, Roma are making progress in their discussions with the Italy international and have now offered him a contract to move to Rome.
The report claims that Jose Mourinho's side have placed a two-year deal on the table, with the option of a third, and the player is expected to respond over the next week.
Valencia and Villarreal are also believed to be in the mix for Belotti, who found the back of the net on 113 occasions in 251 matches for Torino before departing on a free transfer.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid captain Koke has insisted that there has been 'no talk in the club's dressing room' of a potential move for Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.
Diego Simeone's side are thought to be in the mix to sign Ronaldo from Manchester United before the end of the transfer window, but Koke has said that the Portuguese has not been discussed by the players.
The Spain international told Director Gol: "There is no talk of Cristiano Ronaldo in the dressing room. My teammates are great players.
"We have strikers from Argentina, Brazil, some from Portugal, France and Spain. Great players who can do great things. I trust them all."
Ronaldo was in action for Man United against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, playing the opening 45 minutes of the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford. body check tags ::
