Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen.
The 25-year-old recently admitted that he has a number of clubs interested in his signature, but it was understood that Tottenham Hotspur were leading the race.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has made subtle enquiries, however, according to The Mirror, as he attempts to strengthen his squad for next season.
Vertonghen will reportedly cost in the region of £7m.
