Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed that he will not make a decision on Javier Hernandez's future until he has assessed the striker during pre-season.
Hernandez has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford after a disappointing campaign under David Moyes, but Van Gaal, who takes charge of his first game against Los Angeles Galaxy in the early hours of Thursday morning, has insisted that the Mexican international will have the chance to impress him before the start of the campaign.
The former Netherlands coach told reporters: "I have to see if he performs how I want, and now, I can only see what he has shown under the guidance of another trainer and coach.
"He will arrive, I think this evening, and then I will meet him, we will train, and after that, he will perform in a match and only after that, I can say anything about it."
Hernandez scored just four goals in 24 appearances during the Premier League last season.
