West Ham United have allegedly identified Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka as a January transfer target.
Since leaving Crystal Palace for Old Trafford in 2019 for a fee in the region of £50m, Wan-Bissaka has made 127 appearances in all competitions.
However, the 25-year-old has been restricted to just four minutes under Erik ten Hag, that brief outing coming against Liverpool in August.
Rather than receive opportunities in the Europa League, Wan-Bissaka has watched Diogo Dalot retain his spot at right-back for much of the campaign.
With just over 18 months remaining on his contract, United are reportedly ready to part ways with the player, even if they do possess the option to extend his terms by an extra year.
Last week, it was claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers were preparing to launch an approach for Wan-Bissaka as they bid to improve their fortunes in the Premier League.
Nevertheless, according to Manchester Evening News, the division's bottom side are likely to face fierce competition from West Ham.
The Hammers are not much better off than Wolves in the standings, the East Londoners four points ahead of their relegation rivals in 16th position.
Although it was suggested several days ago that Wolves may be ready to be proactive in their pursuit of Wan-Bissaka, the most recent report suggests that David Moyes's side hold the edge.
West Ham are said to have a strong working relationship with the representatives of Wan-Bissaka having already signed Burnley's Maxwel Cornet, who is represented by the same company, earlier this year.
The report adds that Aaron Cresswell and Michail Antonio are also clients, a factor which theoretically gives West Ham an advantage when negotiating a deal.
While West Ham are already well stocked for options at right-back, Moyes has not settled on a preferred player for that role this campaign out of Vladimir Coufal, Ben Johnson and Thilo Kehrer.
As a result of the versatility of the latter two player, Moyes may not necessarily need to facilitate an exit to secure the signature of Wan-Bissaka. body check tags ::
