West Ham United will reportedly attempt to sign Antonio Valencia from Manchester United if Pablo Zabaleta retires at the end of the season.
Zabaleta is believed to weighing up an offer from former club Manchester City to return as part of their coaching staff.
The veteran full-back has been given time to make a decision, but The Sun reports that West Ham are already preparing for his exit.
Long-serving Man United wideman Valencia is seen as a good replacement option, despite being just a year younger, as he will likely be available on a free.
Valencia is into the final few months of his Old Trafford contract and is expected to be given the chance to join a new side in the summer, rather than the Red Devils taking up the option of a 12-month extension.
The Ecuador international is into his 10th season with United and has won six major honours with the club, including the Premier League in 2011 and 2013.
