West Ham United are reportedly on the verge of signing former Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra on a free transfer.
Evra has been without a club since November, when he was sensationally sacked by Marseille after kicking a fan prior to a Europa League game against Vitoria de Guimaraes.
The 26-year-old was handed a seven-month ban from UEFA competition following the incident, but is still eligible to find a new club and play domestically.
Paul Joyce of The Times reports that West Ham are closing in on a deal to bring Evra back to English football, three-and-a-half years after he left Manchester United for Juventus.
The former France international played under current West Ham boss David Moyes during his time at Old Trafford, albeit for less than a season of his eight-and-a-half-year stay at the club.
West Ham are currently struggling with a number of injuries, while left-back Arthur Masuaku is serving a lengthy ban for spitting at an opponent.
