Manchester United are reportedly waiting to learn whether Lille centre-back Leny Yoro is prepared to join them during this summer's transfer window.

The Red Devils are believed to have had an offer accepted by Lille for the 18-year-old, with the initial package believed to be worth in the region of €50m (£42.3m).

However, Real Madrid continue to be heavily linked with the centre-back, with various reports in Spain claiming that the youngster only wants to move to Bernabeu.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Yoro has not yet signalled whether he wants to make the move to the 20-time English champions, or hold out for a possible switch to Bernabeu.

The report claims that the Red Devils are open to signing three centre-backs this summer, with Bayern Munich's Matthijs de Ligt thought to be close to joining, while the English giants continue to pursue Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite in the hope that the Toffees will lower their asking price.

Man United 'waiting' to hear from Yoro

Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in Yoro this summer, but it does appear that only Man United and Real Madrid are the only serious contenders at this stage.

The youngster has made 60 appearances for Lille in all competitions, including 44 outings last term, but his contract now has less than 12 months left to run.

Real Madrid are believed to favour a move for Yoro next year, when he could be available on a free transfer, but it makes most sense for Lille to sell him during the current window.

Yoro recently took to social media to deny claims that he was not interested in making the move to Erik ten Hag's side during the summer market.

Will Maguire, Lindelof leave Man United?

De Ligt is widely expected to join Man United in the near future, with an announcement on the centre-back's arrival from Bayern Munich potentially arriving in the next couple of days.

Raphael Varane has left Old Trafford this summer, while Jonny Evans is currently a free agent, although the experienced defender is in talks over a new deal with the Red Devils.

If Man United do manage to sign both De Ligt and Yoro, in addition to Everton's Branthwaite, then there is every chance that both Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof could leave this summer.

In that situation, De Ligt, Yoro, Branthwaite and Lisandro Martinez would be Man United's centre-back options next season, with Willy Kambwala and potentially Evans also providing support.

However, a lot needs to happen for the Red Devils to secure deals for all three of their centre-back targets, and they could yet miss out on Yoro to Real Madrid. body check tags ::
