Marseille's poor start to the Ligue 1 season has shown no signs of abating as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Lorient in Sunday's clash at the Stade Velodrome.
The hosts were first to register a chance on goal when, in the eighth minute, Michy Batshuayi's shot from just outside the box was saved by Benjamin Lecomte in the top-left corner.
In the 20th minute, Marseille were given the chance to take the lead from the spot when Francois Bellugou was penalised for a handball in the box.
Batshuayi stepped up and duly tucked the ball into the bottom-right corner to give Jose Miguel Gonzalez's side the lead.
Eight minutes before the break, however, Bellugou's through-ball found Benjamin Moukandjo, who rifled the ball low beyond Steve Mandanda to edge the visitors back to parity.
Neither side could find a winner in the second half as the spoils were shared come the final whistle, Marseille remaining four points from the relegation zone, while Lorient climb into the top half of the table.
