Middlesbrough are ready to make a £1.75m bid for Coventry City's Lukas Jutkiewicz, according to The Mirror.
Tony Mowbray reportedly wants to sign the English striker on loan initially before signing him on a permanent deal.
Mowbray is keen to bring a striker into his ranks as his side look to maintain their challenge at the top of the Championship table.
Coventry are understood to want a considerable fee for the striker, who is seen as crucial to their own hopes of staying in the Championship.
The 22-year-old joined Coventry from Everton in 2010.
Jutkiewicz has scored 32 goals during a career that has also included spells with Swindon, Plymouth Argyle, Huddersfield and Motherwell.
