MK Dons have brought a winning end to their pre-season tour of Ireland with a 3-0 victory over Cabinteely this evening.
The visitors were ahead after just 13 minutes at Stradbrook Road as Carl Baker broke the deadlock in style, dancing past three defenders before drilling the ball home.
Karl Robinson's men continued to dominate throughout the first half, but they couldn't find a way past the Cabinteely keeper despite chances for Samir Carruthers, Baker and Giorgio Rasulo.
The hosts made a brighter start to the second half and threatened twice before the hour mark when Sodiq Oguntola first tested David Martin before seeing another effort blocked by Harry Hickford.
A flurry of changes came on the hour mark, and they made an immediate difference for the visitors as Simon Church came close just five minutes before the Dons found their second goal of the evening.
Church turned provider on that occasion, taking the ball around the keeper before looking up and poking it to Daniel Powell, who applied the finish from inside the six-yard box.
The roles were reversed shortly after that to put the result well and truly beyond doubt, as Powell lofted a through-ball forward for Church, who kept his composure to slide the ball past the keeper.
Dons almost grabbed a fourth late on when Joe Walsh met Dale Jennings's corner, but his deflected header came back off the bar as the Championship side were forced to settle for just the three goals.
