Montenegro have missed the chance to go top of Group G after being held to a goalless draw by Liechtenstein.
There was almost a shock opener for the hosts in the early stages when Seyhan Yildiz drifted into space before heading just over the crossbar from a good position.
That would be the closest that Liechtenstein would come in the first half as Montenegro quickly took control, with Milan Jovanovic only being denied by Peter Jehle's impressive reactions.
Montenegro would waste more chances before the break arrived as Marko Simic headed wide of the target shortly before Simon Vukcevic's effort with the head was kept out by Jehle.
The visitors continued to apply the pressure after the interval, but their frustration grew further after the in-form Jehle was forced off due to injury.
Simic was once again guilty of wasting a great opportunity as he nodded the ball over after losing his marker inside the box.
A lack of a cutting edge would prove to be Montenegro's downfall as Liechtenstein held on for a point.
