Willy Sagnol's Bordeaux side were unable to find a way past Montpellier HSC in a hard-fought Ligue 1 encounter this evening.
Bordeaux captain Ludovic Sane intercepted a Montpellier through-ball early in the first half of a defensively-minded affair.
Rodrigue Ninga had Montpellier's best chance of the half from a corner but failed to direct his header on target.
A goalmouth scramble towards the end of the first period ended with Montpellier keeper Laurent Pionnier lying on the ball, as both teams struggled to find consistency in attack.
The second half continued in the same vein as another Montpellier break, lead by Quentin Cornette, was again snuffed out by Sane.
Wahbi Khazri had Bordeaux's best effort of the game with 70 minutes played but Pionnier was equal to the strike.
Thomas Toure, introduced by Sagnol early in the second period, went close 10 minutes later, making the Montpellier keeper go full stretch to keep out a rasping effort.
In the end, neither side could find a breakthrough, as Bordeaux remain 14th in the table while Montpellier stay in the relegation zone.
