European qualification-chasing Saint-Etienne have moved into third spot in the Ligue 1 table after goals from Florentin Pogba and Paul Baysse saw them to a 2-0 away victory over Montpellier HSC this evening.
HSC had the opportunity to go in front after just four minutes had been played, but Joris Marveaux could only head over the goal despite rising highest to meet Morgan Sanson's cross.
The miss was to prove important as Etienne grabbed their opener after 22 minutes, when Pogba caught hold of Ricky van Wolfswinkel's delivery to prod home into the centre of Laurent Pionnier's goal.
The visitors looked the more dominant of the two sides as the game headed towards the interval, and they soon made their possession count with Baysse turning in a dangerous corner from close range to make it 2-0 and secure all three points.
