Serge Gakpe's late goal earned Nantes a narrow 1-0 victory over Montpellier HSC in Ligue 1 this evening.
Michel Der Zakarian's side move into seventh spot in the Ligue 1 table following their home victory.
Itay Shechter wasted a great chance early on as he found space in the centre of the box, only to fire straight at the goalkeeper with his left foot.
The hosts threatened again, this time through Yacine Bammou, as the striker struck a low shot that was saved by Montpellier goalkeeper Geoffrey Jourdren at his bottom corner.
With the visitors limited to efforts from distance, Paul Lasne began to show his frustration as he attempted something spectacular from the edge of the box, with the ball missing the crossbar by a few inches.
Shechter came close again for Nantes after the break, but Jourdren was on hand again to make a save down to his right following some clever playmaking from Alejandro Bedoya.
The home side continued to pile on the pressure and it finally paid dividends late on as Bammou crossed for Gakpe, who made no mistake with his finish from inside the six-yard box.
