Louis Nicollin has said that he is "happy" that Montpellier HSC did not sell Remy Cabella to Newcastle United earlier this year.
The Magpies were heavily linked to the striker during the January transfer window, and have already had a bid for the French international turned down this summer.
The club's president told L'Equipe: "I'm happy I didn't sell him [for] €8m (£6.5m) to Newcastle. I'm happy [for his World Cup call-up], because he's a great kid. This shows the quality of our academy. It is highly probable that I'll go see all the national team's games."
Cabella has also been linked with a move to Manchester United in the current transfer window.
