A goalkeeping mistake has gifted Groningen a 1-0 win against NAC Breda in Sunday's Eredivisie clash at the Euroborg Stadium.
The hosts took the lead after just two minutes when goalkeeper Jelle ten Rouwelaar misjudged a Tjaronn Chery shot, the ball bobbling through his hands and into the net.
Breda, shellshocked at going a goal down so soon, set about trying to rectify the situation, and came close through Adnane Tighadouini and Jeffrey Sarpong.
Meanwhile, Chery was rampant in the visitors' final third, drawing a succession of saves in the first half, but the slender lead remained going in at the break.
The second half proved a much scrappier affair, as a series of players were booked for both sides following rash play, but ultimately Groningen held on for the win, which sees them remain in the hunt for a European place.
Breda, meanwhile, are still in trouble at the bottom of the table, sitting in 16th place.
