Nantes have moved 10 points clear of the Ligue 1 relegation zone by beating fellow strugglers Guingamp 1-0.
The Canaries were ahead with four minutes played when Serge Gakpe found the back of the net following Jordan Veretout's headed pass.
Nantes pushed for a second goal before half time, and Itay Shechter's headed effort nearly gave the hosts some breathing space, but Mamadou Samassa managed to keep it out.
Gakpe almost doubled his tally for the day when he managed to get a shot away inside the box, but Samassa was again equal to it.
