The agent of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has revealed that Serie A side Napoli turned down the chance to sign the Italian before his move to PSG.
Verratti has recently hinted that he would like a return to Serie A with Napoli credited with an interest, but Donato di Campli has ruled out the player signing for Partenopei.
"A move to Napoli? I don't think so," Di Campli told Radio Kiss Kiss. "That's fantasy football. Verratti to Napoli is a ship that has already sailed.
"Aurelio De Laurentiis was ready to take him, but Walter Mazzarri preferred to let him stay at Pescara for another year. That's that and there's no way around it.
"I would be angry if I were De Laurentiis. Napoli are a first-class team that has achieved a lot, but they could have done even more. Marco is feeling very well at PSG now and has an ongoing contract with them."
The 20-year-old has one goal in three caps for Italy.
