Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain has said that he made the right decision in leaving Real Madrid last summer.

The 26-year-old, who has scored 13 goals so far during his first season at the club, said that the affection he receives from the fans has helped him to settle in Naples.

"I am more proud of the decision I took with every day that goes by; I love Naples and its people," Sportsweek quotes him as saying.

"Diego Maradona didn't need to convince me to come here. The decision was mine and I don't regret it.

"At the Santiago Bernabeu they never chanted my name, whereas here every time my name is announced there is an almighty roar."

Napoli are currently third in the Serie A table.
