Navarone Foor's late winner secured a 1-0 win for NEC Nijmegen against SBV Excelsior in tonight's Eredivisie clash at Stadion de Goffert.
Excelsior started well, with Khalid Karami shooting over the bar and Brandley Kuwas being denied by NEC goalkeeper Hannes Halldorsson within the first six minutes.
The home side, who were promoted as Eerste Divisie champions last season, grew into the game and could have been ahead when Christian Santos headed wide from close range.
Jeff Stans missed a good chance for the away side shortly after the break before Foor was off target with an effort from long range.
Foor produced something special with his next effort, however, as he sent a strike into the top corner from outside the penalty area, and NEC were able to hold on for a first clean sheet in 44 Eredivisie matches to secure victory.
