Netherlands captain Arjen Robben has slammed the "very stupid" Bruno Martins Indi for his red card in Thursday's shock 1-0 Euro 2016 qualifying defeat to Iceland.
Gylfi Sigurdsson's penalty on 51 minutes was enough as the Oranje's qualification bid took another hit in Eindhoven last night for what was coach Danny Blind's first game.
The defender saw red on the 33-minute mark for lashing out at Kolbeinn Sigthorsson, and newly-appointed skipper Robben admits that he can only condemn such behaviour.
"As captain I will always stand by my players, but I can't say anything else then that this is very stupid," he told NOS.
"He really lets his teammates down and I think that's a big shame."
The setback leaves Blind's men third in Group A, six points behind Czech Republic and eight adrift of Iceland with three qualifiers remaining.
