Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has described his side's win over Metalist Kharkiv in the last 32 of the Europa League as an "important result" for the club.
Having drawn the first leg 0-0 on home turf, the Magpies earned a 1-0 victory in the Ukraine on Thursday night to progress in the competition.
"It's an important result for us," Pardew told BBC Sport. "With Hatem Ben Arfa coming back [from injury] and Cheick [Tiote] to add to that side, I really feel as though we can give this competition a good go."
Newcastle's reward for beating Metalist is a last-16 encounter with Anzhi Makhachkala.
