Newcastle United are leading Norwich City 2-0 at half time in the Premier League, following first-half goals from Loic Remy and Yoan Gouffran.
Newcastle took the lead after just two minutes when Yohan Cabaye whipped a cross into the penalty area, leaving Remy to head home from the edge of the six-yard box.
Norwich should have responded with an equaliser in the 11th minute when Michael Turner played in Nathan Redmond, who crashed his effort high and wide with only the keeper to beat.
Tim Krul was called into action several minutes later as he produced a fine save to deny Leroy Fer, who had looked to make the most of a cross into the box.
Cabaye looked to impact the game further as he was picked out by Gouffran, but the Frenchman's shot flew wide of goal.
Norwich could have been back on level terms but Anthony Pilkington's header flew wide of goal when Krul looked beaten.
Newcastle then made them pay as Gouffran converted with his left foot from close range, leaving Newcastle to go in 2-0 ahead at half time.
